Why Should You Take This Course?
The traditional model of passively learning facts and reciting them out of context is no longer sufficient to prepare students for today's world. Solving highly complex problems requires that students have both fundamental skills (reading, writing, and math) and problem-solving skills (research gathering, information synthesizing, data analysis, utilizing technologies, and time management). With this combination of skills, students become directors and managers of their learning process. By the end of the course, students will
acquire experience in hands-on projects inspired by their own research questions
learn important skills to be successful in solving complex problems
produce publishable research results
gain competitive advantage in college applications
