Why this class?
This writing workshop offers an excellent opportunity for incoming high-school freshman and sophomores to prepare for the rigors of academic writing, particularly if they will be taking AP-level courses. When classes begin in the fall, they will know what to expect and will be ready to hit the ground running.
Students will learn to think critically as they read, strengthening their ability to focus on, understand, and retain the material. The course content will also help students learn to write with clarity, structure, and purpose.
Competence in critical reading and writing is essential to K-12 academic success, college admissions, and overall effective communication. Students will benefit from this course not only in their academic years, but throughout their lives as they become successful, well-rounded adults.
